One Room Challenge Master Bedroom - Week 2
Hello folks! I'm back to make a report on my One Room Challenge "progress". Well, I have to say we made a little bit of progress this week.
You may have noticed that my inspiration photos were quite varied. I know I want cozy, and I know I want a beach cottage vibe - as much as you can get in Oklahoma.
Something in me was screaming 'accent wall - navy blue!!'. I don't know why but I have been crushing on navy lately. So, I went to my paint stash in my garage and found almost 2 quarts of navy that I had used in my sons room, and I started painting. Luckily I had just.enough to finish!!
I fell in love instantly. I love this navy so much - it's not too dark - more cadet like. It is a Walmart Colorplace color called Inlet Blue. I have had it for years and when I went to see if they still had it, I couldn't find that name. URGH!! But, in the meantime I found one that was super close from Behr called Mood Indigo. {side note - I do not like online color swatches, I don't think they are a good representation of the color.} Here is a pic that shows a truer color against the white of the rest of the room.

I made my first attempt at an upholstered headboard, and my oh my was that a simple and straight-forward project!! How to attach it/hang it, or whatever had me stumped for a couple of days, but a little bit of research led me to the perfect solution - more on that later. For now, it is hung and lookin' fab!!
I have had this fabric stashed away for a couple of years, specifically for this project {sad huh?}. It is upholstery weight that I found on the flat fold sale table at Joann's. I think I paid $15 for around 3 yards, which left me with some leftover.
The pattern is very subtle and if you are not right up next to it, you might miss it. Which is just what I wanted. Neutral with a little personality.
As I've said before, the big things for me need to be neutral so I can change out the lesser things when I get bored.
The next task is one that my heart has just not been into this week - painting trim and doors. Not my favorite task, but I plan on finishing out all the woodwork white as I work my way around the bedrooms this summer and fall, so it must be done.

So, there ya have it. Hope to have more to show and tell next week. REally trying to stretch my budget to the max on this one, so I'm gonna have to get creative :)

What a great color! I love the fabric on the headboard, you can't beat a good herringbone! Keep up the good work, Denise!
Looking great - I would love to paint a room with navy walls at some point! Glad to hear the upholstered headboard was easy b/c it's on my ORC to-do list and I've been dreading it. Loving how it's coming along!!
Love the navy walls. What a great find with that fabric. That's the best when you find it on sale.
Denise, the new headboard is awesome!! I love the shape of it and the fabric. And the navy wall - I am a huge fan (my master is navy too.) The color is so wonderful for a cozy, serene space. Looking forward to seeing next week's episode!
Great wall color and great fabric. Can never go wrong with such classic choices.
Thanks so much!! :)
I'm loving navy, each time I see it I start looking around my house! Your bedroom is going to be a beautiful retreat, great job on the headboard, too!
Looking good! I am impressed with your thriftiness so far. Gorgeous colour.
Love the blue and amazing job with the headboard! I'm thinking of tackling one for my daughters room...
Love the headboard and wall color. Since it is already hung, I won't bore you with a link. Good luck this week.
Looking great! That headboard is amazing! We tackled our master bedroom too with the ORC. So fun cheering each other on. Can't wait to see what you've done this week :)
