Reclaimed Wood Planked Reset Ceiling {Be Like Joanna}

Hey there! Are there any Fixer Upper fans out there?? You know you love it!! So, I'm a couple of weeks behind but as I was watching the bachelor pad show a few nights back, I had to stop and rewind and watch again. Did you see that kitchen?? How about the reclaimed wood everywhere?? But, more specifically the reset ceiling that was planked with it??

DIY Christmas Balls - Quick and Inexpensive

I feel like I have been a bit off with blogging lately. And, I have missed it! Between finishing up the One Room Challenge, getting ready to host Thanksgiving, my boy coming home, hosting Thanksgiving, and now trying to decorate for Christmas...whew! I just haven't taken a second to sit down and share with y'all. And I have managed to catch a little cold. :( Ain't nobody got time for that! So, last night as I was watching the Fixer Upper season premier (anyone else a #fixerupperfanatic?), I whipped up some filler balls to use in my Christmas decor. And even though it's mid-morning already, I thought I would share!! ;)

DIY Gone Wrong - Dip-Dye Debacle

Hello there friends! I'm here to share with you the ugly truth that sometimes DIY doesn't always go the way you planned. Sometimes you will fail. And fail is what I did this weekend. :(

One of the things I have been wanting to try for a while is a dip-dye ombre. I read plenty of tutorials, and honestly it looked pretty straight forward. So, I got confident and dove right in. I read the directions on the dye bottle, and proceeded with what I remembered from the tutorials I had read.

Easy Outdoor Planter Boxes and Lighting Fix

So, a couple of weeks ago while the kids were on Fall Break, hubby and I decided to knock out a project to remedy an issue with the patio redo. (never mind that I had just nose-dived into ORC!)

Maybe you remember from the original patio reveal that the light poles were leaning.

How To Make Custom Piping Trim For Pillows

Hi there! I'm so happy to be back to blogging!! My posts might seem a little all over the place for the next few weeks. I have a lot of things to share from the summer! Today I would like to start with how to make custom piping trim. The title says "for pillows" but you can use this for anything you would like to add piping to. As far as the level of difficulty, I would say it's pretty easy. If you can sew a straight line, you can do this!

I think sewing tutorials are really hard to write, but I'm going to do the best I can and hope that the pictures will fill in the gaps.

DIY Floating Mantel

Another addition in the Family Room Refresh!! A while back when I decided to paint the brick around our fireplace I also removed the mantel. It was never really my style. The fireplace sat naked for weeks, as I pondered what to put in it's place. I toyed with the idea of building a surround, something tailored and traditional, or just a simple floating mantel.  My mind just kept going back to the latter, so that's what we went with. And I'm soooo glad we did!!  I love it!!

How to 'Slipcover' An Ottoman

Several weeks ago a super sweet friend of mine who knew I was looking for a larger ottoman for our family room alerted me of a steal of a deal on Craigslist - $20! Gotta love friends like that right?!? (Thanks Jennifer :))

I spent weeks deliberating over a fabric choice. And finally we have this!!

Yay!  Let's back up and see where we started, and how we got to the finished product.
